WHY I BECAME A THERAPIST

Life can bring challenging moments, emotional discomfort, struggle and uncertainty. When we are overwhelmed or in the midst of a difficult life transition, it may feel like we will never get through it. Therapy can support you as you process uncomfortable feelings, build coping skills, and discover your strengths to help you through hard times.

I BECAME A THERAPIST BECAUSE I KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO FACE AN UNEXPECTED LIFE TRANSITION AND I WANT TO SUPPORT OTHERS AS THEY LEARN TO NAVIGATE THAT UNCERTAINTY.

WHEN I WORK WITH CLIENTS, I FOCUS ON THE CLIENT-THERAPIST RELATIONSHIP, AIM TO UNDERSTAND WHAT MOTIVATES EACH CLIENT, AND HELP THEM IDENTIFY AND BUILD UPON THEIR CURRENT STRENGTHS.

There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution in therapy. Some clients thrive with more nurturing support, while others seek accountability and a more direct approach. I work to understand the balance that works best for each client depending on their presenting concerns. I use a collaborative approach in my work, and integrate a variety of modules such as Internal Family Systems and attachment-based therapy.

When I work with clients, I incorporate THREE THINGS to create positive change:

strengths | acceptance | accountability

When we work together, I focus on building upon your current strengths and coping mechanisms while teaching you new ways of thinking to incorporate in your everyday life. I want to ensure that all my clients have the necessary skills to move forward with the work that is done within our therapeutic relationship to practice outside of that setting.

WHO I WORK WITH

I work with individuals and couples, and I specialize in people experiencing addiction challenges, managing difficult life transitions, dealing with depression or anxiety, and those with a history of trauma.

My area of expertise is working with people who are struggling to cope with significant life changes.

WHAT IF IT IS MY FIRST TIME IN THERAPY?

Therapy requires courage and might feel a little scary when you first begins. I am here to help you feel seen and heard. Know that this space is truly for you and only you. You are allowed to use the time in ways that help you feel empowered and understood. I encourage you to ask questions and discuss your feelings about it being your first time! We are in this journey together, and it takes a lot of courage to kick start that journey. Finding a therapist is a huge first step.
