WHY I BECAME A THERAPIST

With the right support, validation, and encouragement, we all have the capacity to change and create a life filled with happiness and fulfillment. Part of being human means experiencing both joy and pain. I encourage the exploration of both the positive and the painful parts of our lives while working together to actively problem-solve and find solutions to life’s challenges.
 

I BECAME A THERAPIST TO HELP PEOPLE COPE WITH LIFE’S UPS AND DOWNS SO THEY CAN LIVE HAPPY AND FULFILLING LIVES.

I work to meet my clients where they are at. Every person has a special and unique story to tell. Therapy should be a safe and transformational space for you to tell your story, explore areas that get in your way, learn new ways to cope with stressors, and help guide you to a happier life!

Life has its ups and downs, and sometimes you might need a little extra support to deal with challenges.  Therapy can be the perfect way to get this additional support, helping you to figure out what’s working well and what you want to change about your life.  Therapy offers a space that allows you to acknowledge how actions and behaviors contributed to who you are today. The therapy process can be challenging, but the  techniques and coping skills that can come from it are invaluable.

 

When I work with clients, I incorporate THREE THINGS to create positive change:

unconditional positive regard | self-reflection | adaptive coping skills

With these three things, you and I can explore and gain understanding into the your thought process and examine how it impacts your emotions and behaviors on a daily basis. Together we will work to identify adaptive coping skills to cope with future life stressors. I also incorporate these three things in family therapy to identify happier and more adaptive ways of functioning as a family unit.
 

WHO I WORK WITH

I work with individuals and teens experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship loss/break-ups, self-esteem/self-worth struggles, and life balance challenges. My other areas of interest include working with parents and families to help them learn how to work collaboratively as a family unit.
 

My area of expertise is working with individuals who are overcoming painful emotions such as guilt, shame, or inadequacy that have been holding them back from living their best lives.

WHAT IF I DON'T LIKE WHAT YOU TELL ME TOO?

Don’t worry, therapy isn’t about telling you what to do! My role is to offer you support and a safe space to examine what beliefs or behaviors may be holding you back, and help you learn the tools and skills to cope with your unique problems.

A LITTLE ABOUT ME & MY PROFESSIONAL SKILLS 

  • I completed my graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Practice at Roosevelt University
  • I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.
  • I received a concentration in clinical chid and family psychology
  • I have completed a 27.5 hour Living Brave course by Dr. Brené Brown focusing on Vulnerability, Courage, Shame, and Empathy.
